Misha Klein and Sean O’Neill, both professors of Anthropology, are faculty-in-residence at the University of Oklahoma’s study center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the 2016-17 academic year. Throughout the year, OU students will learn about the rich cultural life of the Cidade Maravilhosa, exploring the unique history, music, language, visual arts, film, and architecture, with the city as our classroom. Together we will explore the spectacular natural beauty and historical significance of the city and surrounding region. Through this blog, Misha (with input from Sean, our son Theo, and the students) will chronicle our adventures and the changing cityscape…long after the Olympic crowds have left and the media has turned its attention to other places and people.
